What signal does Barbie’s burka send?

Women forbidden by law from feeling sunlight—hey, that’s a positive message for young girls

Mark Steyn

The other day, George Jonas passed on to his readers a characteristically shrewd observation gleaned from the late poet George Faludy: “No one likes to think of himself as a coward,” wrote Jonas. “People prefer to think they end up yielding to what the terrorists demand, not because it’s safer or more convenient, but because it’s the rightSource: The Two Malcontents RSS Feed

Jerusalem: The Eternal Capital of Israel!

Jerusalem: The Eternal Capital of Israel!A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*************************
There has been much talk lately of creating a state of Palestine with Jerusalem as it's capital city. Many of us take a dim view of this approach to peace between Israel and the so-called Palestinians.
Jerusalem is known to many as "The City Of David." (Actually only the southeastern portion of The Old City is the historic "City of David". But to many Jews and many evangelicalSource: Faultline USA RSS Feed

The worst of the crisis may lie ahead

David Mixner
Author, Political Strategist

As the nation debates reforming our health care system, there is one topic I'm not hearing enough about – how the fight against HIV/AIDS will remain a national priority and how the prevention of such costly diseases such as this will become a foundational element of our health system.

Phenomenal progress has been made against HIV/AIDS since it first appeared in the United States a quarter-century ago. But this verySource: AC360 RSS Feed

JCPenney's Is Now Selling Marijuana

“Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affectSource: Faultline USA RSS Feed

Opinion: Nation’s campaigners kickstarted

Yesterday saw the conclusion of ALDC’s annual training event Kickstart, designed for councillors and campaigners who are defending and targetting council seats at next year’s local elections.

Next year is a special year indeed, because in all probability the General Election will happen on the same day as local elections. Whilst this is nothing new, the councils that are facing election this time are not the councils that usually combine with a general election. Indeed, it’sSource: Liberal Democrat Voice RSS Feed

Are UKIP and the Lisbon driving the Tory poll decline?

BBC news - Nov 4th

Can Dave win back the Tory doubters?

All seventeen polls published between the end of the Tory Party conference and Cameron’s dropping of his pledge to hold a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty had the Conservatives on at least 40%; of the eight published since then, only twice has the Tory share broken into the forties.

Two conversations I’ve had in the last week give anecdotal evidence that Cameron’s move has gone down badly in sections of Source: Political Betting RSS Feed
